Can you work from renovation drawings?
Include your plans and project details with the service request. We will follow up about the electrical scope and coordination needed.
Can security wiring be planned at the same time?
Yes. Let us know about cameras, doorbells, sensors, or other security goals so the security and renovation requirements can be considered together.
Does aluminum wiring mean the whole home needs rewiring?
Not necessarily. Alberta’s Safety Codes Council says aluminum wiring can be safe with proper connections, undamaged wire and approved materials installed to the Canadian Electrical Code and manufacturer instructions. It recommends an electrician knowledgeable about aluminum wiring. Have the existing installation and planned changes assessed before deciding what work is needed. Do not remove devices or open wiring to identify the material yourself.
How do electrical permits fit into a home renovation?
The City of Edmonton requires a permit to install, alter or add to an electrical system. For a renovation with other interior or exterior alterations, its guidance says to apply for the electrical permit with the appropriate building permit; an electrical-only project uses a separate electrical application. Tell K-Jay about the wider renovation and any existing permit application so the electrical scope and inspections can be coordinated. Confirm requirements with your local authority outside Edmonton.
Will your LEDs work with the dimmer?
Dimmable does not mean every LED lamp or fixture works with every dimmer. The exact products, control arrangement and existing wiring need review.
Lutron's guidance directs users to check compatible LED pairings for its Maestro controls. This is manufacturer guidance, not selection or approval of a particular product for your home.
Share fixture and dimmer models when the information is already available, the rooms involved and whether you want control from more than one location. Do not remove a switch, open a wall box or perform electrical tests to obtain details.
If lights already flicker, describe when it happens and any changes you have noticed. Flickering alone does not identify the cause or repair. Ask for the selected fixtures, controls and required work to be stated in the renovation scope.
