Home EV charging · Edmonton and area
Does your EV charger need a service upgrade?
Not automatically. A 100-amp service alone does not tell us whether your home needs an upgrade. K-Jay assesses the available capacity, existing loads, charger, and cable route. Load management is a common option in our EV installations when it suits the home.

A compatible system can control charging in response to the home’s other electrical demand. That may make charging possible without increasing the service capacity. It is not a promise that every home qualifies, and charging availability depends on the equipment and other loads.
What we check before recommending it
Send your complete intake with photos of the panel, main-breaker marking if safely visible, parking location, and cable route. Include the vehicle and charger make/model and tell us about planned electrical additions. Open only the hinged panel door for photos; never remove covers. Select “Not sure” when needed.
Our team reviews the installation as a whole, then explains whether load management, a suitable charging setup, or a service upgrade fits the proposed work. The recommendation and equipment appear in your quote.
How much does the installation cost?
Most K-Jay home EV installations cost $1,750–$3,000 including GST, excluding the charger. Run length, installation difficulty, and required load management affect pricing. The agreed quote includes permits, travel, and load management when needed. This is a typical installation range, not a fixed price or a price for the load-management device alone.
Most customers supply their own charger, and we welcome that. If K-Jay supplies it, the charger is a separate upfront line item.
